Dr. P.J. Devereaux

Dr. Devereaux is Professor in the Departments of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact (HEI) and Medicine at McMaster University, and he is the Director of the Division of Perioperative Care at McMaster University. The focus of his research is vascular complications around the time of surgery. He is leading several large, international Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) and observational studies. He has published more than 430 peer-reviewed papers and more the 70 book chapters and editorials. He is a Senior Scientist and the Scientific Leader of the Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Surgical Research Group at the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). He is the President of the Society of Perioperative Research and Care. He is the Principal Applicant of the Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Canada, which is the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded Pan-Canadian Clinical Trials Consortium to improve the ecosystem for conducting Randomized Control Trials (RCTs) in Canada. Dr. Devereaux is supported by the McMaster University / Hamilton Health Sciences Chair in Perioperative Care. He also holds a Tier 1 Canadian Research Chair in Perioperative Medicine.
